Adding and Deleting Blank Pages

Most of our templates very helpfully have a tag, element, or master page for when you need to add a blank page. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s not as easy as you’d think to add or delete a blank page.

Adding a Blank Page

Adding a blank page after a table or anchored frame in an unstructured document:

One of things that drives people crazy is trying to get the cursor in the right place to add a blank page.

  1. Click in the text box and place the cursor next to the marker.
  2. Press the right arrow key several times to make sure the cursor is at the very end of the content.
  1. Press the enter key—this should add a new text line and/or new page.
  2. Change the paragraph tag to the appropriate blank page tag.

Adding a blank page to documents with a “Blank” master page:

Some of our templates have a master page created specifically for blank pages.

  1. Place the cursor at the end of your content. (Use the right arrow key.)
  2. Press the enter key—this should add a new page.
  3. Go to Format > Page Layout > Master Page Usage (alt+o+l+m).
  4. Choose Blank from the drop-down list.
  1. Click Apply.

Adding a blank page to a structured document:

WARNING!

Do not force a BlankPage element.

The key to adding a blank page to a structured document is finding the structure level that allows the BlankPage element to be added. In most cases, the correct level is the third level.

If you can’t remember which level the BlankPage element belongs, just go to the bottom of the Structure View window and click just above the bottom of each level’s vertical line to add the insertion arrow. Watch the Elements palette to see when the BlankPage element appears
